Exceptional Service and Hospitality at Marriott Downtown Winston-Salem

I had a great experience at the Marriott in downtown Winston-Salem on 12/12/24. After a long overnight flight from LAX, I arrived at 7 AM without a reservation, completely exhausted. Initially, I was told the hotel was fully booked, but the front desk staff went above and beyond to accommodate me. They found a room so I could check in early and get a couple of hours of rest before heading to work.

The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and very convenient. The valet service was outstanding—extremely polite and efficient. They took care of my car and made it easy for me to make a quick trip to pick up clothes for my unexpected extra night.

The level of service and attention to detail made my stay truly enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Winston-Salem!

Hotel room was fine, but the elevators upon arrival elevators were creaky and you can see out the crack in the door at any given time. Also not even exaggerating when I say it took 10 min for the elevator to come after pressing the button. We ended up taking the stairs. Which by the way needs to be cleaned. Staff were friendly and room was nice so overall not a terrible place to stay.

I've dated this location multiple times. There is little parking but there is a valet. If you have Platinum status they do have a lounge which is nice as a third workspace. The rooms are adequate for a typical three or four star hotel. They do offer a nice view of downtown winston-salem. There are also a couple of restaurants within walking distance. There's also a conference center nearby.

Ms. Sheila and Xavier were very welcoming and accommodating, while remaing professional.|Ms. Sheila gave me places to take my very active 6-year-old granddaughter to expell her energy. |Xavier asked the chef to fix me chicken sausage for breakfast, as I don't eat pork. |The rooms smelled fresh, were very clean and spacious. Concierge services were great as well. |Our stay was fantastic!!

Was at a conference last week and not only was the hotel staff not helpful and clueless, the room had roaches. I had a difficult time checking in was told to park across the street in a private lot, and had to move my vehicle the next day to a more affordable parking lot. Was bothered by the cleaning crew when I had a privacy sign on the door. Hotel overbooked people so they moved customers to another hotel which was a complete DISASTER! Was charged $50 for incidentals and had to call a week later for them to release it. I absolutely hated my stay here! If you’re ever in the Winston-Salem area do not stay at this hotel! Go to a cleaner, friendlier hotel that don’t have roaches! Almost forgot, room was not near the elevator but it was close enough for me to hear it go up and down ALL NIGHT! AND the free WiFi is a complete JOKE! I used my hotspot the entire time I was there. Worst stay EVER!

Comfortable rooms and in a good location but seemed understaffed. Everything seemed disorganized. They charge for M Lounge access but do not keep it stocked and was always messy. Coffee Machine in lounge was broken all weekend. Elevators seemed broken or just slow as lines piled up….stairs was much faster. Toilet paper was out in the public restrooms in particular “the gym” all weekend. The staff they had were friendly and helpful but just always seemed behind.

I recently stayed at the Winston-Salem Marriott as a Platinum Elite member and was extremely disappointed with how my lost items case was handled. During my stay, I lost a scarf and a hat valued at approximately $1,000. I reported the issue the very next day, and after multiple follow-ups over a two-week period, I finally received a response that was generic and dismissive. Here are the key issues:

1. Impersonal greeting: The email started with just ‘Hello!’ rather than addressing me by name, which is unprofessional and impersonal, especially after multiple follow-ups.

2. No mention of specific items: Despite me clearly stating that I lost a scarf and a hat, the response didn’t mention these specific items at all, raising doubts about whether they actually looked for them.

3. No room details: The email vaguely referred to ‘that room’ without specifying my room number, which gives the impression that they didn’t properly investigate or even bother to personalize the search.

4. Canned response after two weeks: It took two weeks and several follow-ups just to receive a generic, canned reply, which did not reflect any real effort to resolve my issue or recover my lost items.

As a loyal Platinum Elite member, I expected much better service and attention to detail from Marriott. This dismissive handling of my case has left me frustrated and disappointed.

Had a great stay here! Friendly staff, and comfortable rooms that are modern and nicely decorated. The elevators were a bit creaky at times but worked fine!
