Washington State History Museum - Tacoma, Washington

My husband and I were in WA for a family memorial service and our Nephew took us to the History Museum.

It was on Third Thursday so admission was free. The exhibits were fun to look at. We enjoyed learning about WA too.

We didn't get to spend as much time there as we would have liked, but enjoyed what time we had there very much.

All the staff and volunteers were nice and helpful. ( even pointing me to the right place when my husband and nephew got ahead of me)

Will definitely go back if given the opportunity to do so in the future.

Absolutely amazing place, so much to see and learn about. All the staff are extremely happy and helpful. The museum is kept up beautifully restrooms are very clean, I truly couldn't be more impressed. My 10yo loved it and learned and saw so much. It was an amazing experience, I can not wait to go back!! And there is so much more to do in the general vicinity. Thank you Washington State History Museum for helping keep our history alive for generations to come!!

Beautiful architecture & compound. Convenient pay parking $4.00 2 hrs. Nice/ friendly but very few staff except at entry. We've been to many State museums. This one is so poor, exhibits so bare. Looks like they had college kids design them. Where's the antique furniture, crystal, clothing, valuables? They spent too much time worrying about Indian culture and not enough science/history. Example: long video of a tribal representative explaining the political and legal battle over The Ancient One. Fine. Buy let's see more of the science. DNA? Analysis of minerals in the bones? Findings of Smithsonian experts? Also, could've done much more on Microsoft and the computer revolution here. They lack a coherent plan to display scientific and cultural history here in my opinion. Excellent model train display.

Excellent museum with very informative displays that were organized and well presented. Placards are placed in front of most exhibits and generally give detailed information about the exhibit. Many exhibits had audio-visual materials.

I would definitely recommend this museum to those who like to spend time learning about the subjects they are interested in.

I've been living in Washington for a number of years and had yet to visit the Washington State History Museum. We went on Thursday ( which turned out to be the third Thursday of the month and therefore, free admission) and really enjoyed all the exhibits. There was a temporary exhibit of quilt artwork which was absolutely awe-inspiring! The docents are very knowledgeable and readily available to answer any questions you may have on Washington State history. Most definitely well worth a visit

This museum is great! There is something of interest for all ages. The train exhibit, the covered wagon. The history of the native Americans. The diversity of immigrants and their impact. 1st class museum.

We learned so much from this museum. It is very well maintained and full of exhibitions. If you are detail person, you can spend hours here to learn. It is a huge museum, such a great place for anyone to learn and understand history about Washington state. The staff are super friendly and available for any questions.

Love to go back for the train festival! Can’t wait!

Нас особенно впечатлили экспозиции о коренных народах и первых поселенцах. Мы "строили" железную дорогу и "искали" золото, что добавило веселья и познавательности нашему визиту.

Макет старого шахтерского городка — это что-то невероятное! Выставка о современном Вашингтоне тоже была очень информативной и захватывающей.

Музейный магазин предложил много интересных сувениров на память. А после осмотра мы прогулялись по красивой набережной рядом с музеем.

Если вы еще не были здесь, очень рекомендую! Музей делает историю штата живой и увлекательной.
