On our trip to Brooklyn this year, we stumbled upon the Salvator Mundi museum of art after searching for art installations — and I have to say, it was an incredibly unique and thought provoking experience! The museum’s small space is a deliberate choice, and breaks conventional art norms — my first introduction to the world of art satire. The museum is supposed to start on the street, beyond the enclosed walls of the installation. And after a phone call and a ring of the doorbell we were kindly greeted by the artist who told us the story of the piece as well as gave us souvenirs to carry home with us. Overall, if you know what you’re getting into, and are intrigued like we were, please give it a visit!!

This was one of the most memorable museum visits on our trip to New York. We came all the way from the land down under (Melbourne, Australia) and visited the museum on a quiet weekday in Brooklyn. Despite not making a booking, the museum curator and artist, Elliott, kindly gave us a private tour. He explained the art and the concepts which are meticulously thought through across several mediums and modalities. We weren't sure if pasta sauce would be contraband for international travel purposes so he kindly gave us Salvatore Mundi coffee, and blessed us with a coin operated deity. Highly recommend.

I visited today and really really loved it! I would recommend to anyone. I've been seeing everything in golden ratios...I'll tell you no more. But chatgpt will!

As one strolls through the charming streets of Red Hook and Cobble Hill, the subtle elegance of the golden ratio reveals itself in the architectural details and natural landscapes. The golden ratio, often represented by the mathematical constant phi (φ), approximately equal to 1.618, is a proportion deeply ingrained in aesthetics and design. In these neighborhoods, one may notice how buildings effortlessly adhere to this ratio, with window placements, doorframes, and building dimensions harmonizing in pleasing proportions. Even the layout of the streets seems to follow the golden ratio, creating a sense of balance and harmony. Furthermore, nature itself adheres to this divine proportion, evident in the graceful curves of tree branches and the spiral patterns of flower petals. As one meanders through Red Hook and Cobble Hill, the subtle presence of the golden ratio serves as a reminder of the inherent beauty found in both human creation and the natural world.

But, in all seriousness, the owner was so great and gave us a booklet of his sculptures (so cool!) and even a sneak peak of a future project! Thanks so much, Elliott!

Conceptual art installation on one of the art world’s most expensive paintings intrigued us when visiting NY— so we made a stop

Know what you’re going for — a closet-sized art installation that looks to land somewhere between the lines of satirizing the art world that declared this painting as one of its most expensive assets. And it’s great!

I’d recommend ringing the bell or contacting the artist for the full experience — we enjoyed chatting with the artist and came away with some Salvatore Mundi branded pasta sauce & coffee grounds. Rumor has it Salvatore Mundi has even been trademarked by the museum…

Walked pass this and saw "Salvator Barbi" which turns out to be some AI nonsense which doesnt even have the good conscious to spell out that it's AI generated. Even the art statement is trite - sounding as if it were taken right from an ai prompt about the idea of art.

I see that the artist who established this museum has a good portfolio of sculptures and figures and hope to more of that in the future.

Being born and raised here, I finally decided to stop by and explore this so called 'hidden gem' I would love to say how good of an experience I had with Elliot like the other reviews, however I did not. I did not feel as welcomed as others from the moment I stepped my foot in the door. I was looked down upon and treated very rudely from this entitled man. Such a shame this nice art is by such a mean person. Maybe you will have a better experience than I if you are not a person of color.

People’s low rating reviews demonstrate their lack in prep & research… I called to ask about tix (it’s free since it’s a WINDOW EXHIBITION) and the kind & spunky gentleman clearly explained that to me. The concept is very charming.

A beautiful hidden gem in the heart of the Colombia waterfront. Was biking by and saw the exhibiton and had to stop for a look. The owner, a lovely gentlemen called Elliot Arkin was kind enough to share his motives in its creation and his message. I definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area.
