My review is based on a patient of Dr Mu, (My mom) he saved her 2X many, many years ago back when he worked at St. Johns Hospital in Queens, I rushed my mom to the hospital with the worst headache ever and her face was kind of distorted she had a bleed due to a Grade 5 Aneurysm, she was in critical condition in the ICU, she was so critical that they couldn't even operate right away, she had a 5% chance of survival, but Dr. Mu operated on her 2 days later and he saved her, my mom was 57, the age I am now, the operation was like 15 hours long, a year later my mom developed another Grade 5 Aneurysm (she was a heavy smoker) and in e again he saved her after a 20 hour surgery. He's an Angel, he's the most compassionate Dr. I have ever met, and I've been thinking a lot about him lately, I don't know why. Maybe I'll send him a little note, I know more than 25 years have passed since, but I think he will remember the Wolff family

Almost every 1 star review is based on a biased New York Times article on a single case of an insurance-related personal issue, with a single patient. Most if not all types of Neurosurgery itself costs A LOT. It’s not at all his fault. None of those reviews are from actual patients of his.

I am a current medical student who shadowed him during a multi-hour cranioplasty. He inspired me to want to become a compassionate physician. This is one of the most down-to-earth and caring surgeons, I’ve ever met. He is incredibly caring and personable with his patients, and exceptionally good at what he does.

People are so quick to type a review without any sort of actual experience with him. Sad to see, arguably the nicest neurosurgeon in NY be dragged down by thoughtless reviews.

I saw Dr. Mu at his Flushing office. I was having really bad back pain for many weeks. I was afraid I was going to need an operation. Dr. Mu spent a long time going over my MRI and reports. My condition did not need an operation. He explained what i needed to do and referred me to a physical therapist. I have been recommending him to all my family & friends. He really spent the time and showed that he cared. Definitely 5 stars +++++

Dr. Mu was thorough with his explanation of my condition. Taking over an hour to show me in detail my MRI, explain my surgery and recovery time. (A previous doctor I visited barely spent 5 minutes with me. ) I have recovered after my back surgery and I am no longer in pain. Dr. Mu gave me back my life. As for billing issues, that I have been reading about on the internet. I work in medical billing and anyone with any knowledge would know that CPT codes are entered for procedures by the providers. These codes are sent to the insurance company. The insurance companies are the ones who decide what is the usual and customary fees to pay the provider. My case was out-of-network and the insurance company sent me Dr. Mu's payment directly. I had to sign the payment over to Dr. Mu's office. I think the insurance company was playing games with the doctors and patients. It is very tempting for patients to keep the payment check. The insurance company (in my case United Healthcare) should really have sent the check to the provider. Nevertheless, I had a good experience and I am pain free. Thank you Dr. Mu!

Dr. Mu is a thorough and compassionate doctor. He takes the time to explain to patients their unique situation, treatment options and aftercare. His calm, kind demeanor is comforting the patient and their family. Dr. Mu is a top notch neurosurgeon, doctor and person.

How can charging someone $117,000 for 'assisting' in surgery be ethical? Assistance that wasn't even needed, was an elective surgery, and the patient wasn't informed prior. And purposefully doing it because you KNOW that you are out of network for that patient and can then jack up your charges more than four times the normal cost, is disgusting. No wonder our healthcare system is so screwed up. You should be ashamed of yourself. Seriously.

THIS DOCTOR LEFT HIMSELF A FAKE FIVE STAR REVIEW UNDER THE NAME JOHN SMITH. He is a fraud and should have his medical license revoked
