Très belle forêt Beaux sites. Un bémol: il manque d'indications, c'est très grand et facile de s'y perdre! Comme pls autres State Park, les chiens n'ont pas le droit de se baigner à la plage.

My family enjoyed three days of camping at Cuivre River State Park. Our stay here was absolutely perfect. The park was well maintained and the archery range was a huge highlight of our trip. We were happy to find that the campfire pits had grates for cooking. Those were extremely useful and a nice surprise!

Great state park, close to home. Camping area is well maintained, well monitored, peaceful and quiet, just as camping should be.

Tons of trails for hiking are available as well as Lincoln Lake where you can fish, swim at the beach and rent kayaks. Boat ramps are available for smaller boats.

Just a ton to explore at this park.

I took an early morning hike on a cool April Saturday. Early spring wildflowers were beginning to bloom on the forest floor (Dutchman’s breeches, blue and yellow violets, trout lilies and others). And I had this part of the park all to myself- lovely! Restrooms were not opened for the season (at least in the picnic area / trailhead where I was parked), so 4/5 stars.

Disappointing Experience at Cuivre River State Park

I had high hopes for Cuivre River State Park, but unfortunately, my visit was marred by several issues that made it hard to enjoy the experience. First and foremost, the staff was unhelpful and, in one case, downright rude. A supervisor named Alice was particularly unpleasant—she was dismissive and condescending when I brought up concerns, which left me feeling frustrated and unheard.

To make matters worse, the park appears to have a significant issue with stray dogs and cats. During my visit, I saw numerous animals roaming freely, and when I mentioned it to staff, I was told it was "not their problem." It’s concerning that the park does nothing to address this issue, especially given the potential safety risks.

Additionally, it seems the park doesn't enforce its rules effectively. There were multiple instances of illegal activity, including squatters camping in unauthorized areas and people parking overnight to hunt in restricted zones. This kind of behavior went unchecked, and it felt like the park turned a blind eye to these violations, making the environment feel unsafe and chaotic for law-abiding visitors.

The lack of management and enforcement of park regulations really detracted from what could have been a peaceful outdoor experience. I won't be returning, and I strongly suggest potential visitors be aware of these ongoing issues before planning a trip.

I was traveling through the area on my way to St Louis and spent the night here. Some of the camp spots are a little close together. The young lady's next to me were having some Hot Lesabin Action from the sound of things

This is a beautiful park with lots of hiking trails to enjoy the scenery. The lake is nice to walk around too, and there's a beach!

Some of the trails are rather narrow. I came home with poison ivy on a summer day, so look out for that. I saw a lot of varieties of mushrooms on a walk of the Turkey Hollow Trail, and lots of wildflowers along the Lakeside Trail.

The Visitors Center has nice maps of the area, with all the trails marked in color, and descriptions on the back with lots of information.
