Really clean cabins and restrooms. The location is about 20 minutes from Hays, so have a cooler for the cold grocery bits in the summer. The Trappers Lodge (there’s a dorm room fridge and microwave in the cabin) has a fun feel to it, and was a great location for viewing the Milky Way at night. Dogs are allowed for an additional fee and have to be on a leash. Next time we’re in that part of Kansas, we’ll be staying at these cabins.

4.5 stars. Overall a solid experience. The park office crew was awesome. Extremely helpful. The campsites were pretty nice and quiet with picnic areas included. The only downside was all the trash from previous campers. Restrooms were clean. All dogs were on leash, which was really great to see.

There are big areas with level gravel pads. The WiFi was good enough to stream. Restroom was relatively clean. Our site, 129, was next to the reservoir and a large parking spot where a food truck was. The truck wasn’t open when we were there. All of the spots were spacious and most have large trees. Many of the campers decorated with lights. It was 104° when we rolled in. They had a large beach. This place is mostly for boating campers but has a small pond for kids to fish. They have some sites large enough for boats. They have a life jacket lending station. We had to pay a $5 vehicle fee. There were no rangers or workers when we were there but we arrived after five on a Wednesday. There are many geocaches in this park and immediate area. We would recommend this campground.

We were only staying for 1 night during our roadtrip. State Park was very nice and sites are spread out. There is swimming, however area didn't look too big and lots of trees in water. There was another area where you can bring your canoe or kayak. Saw 2 playgrounds for kiddos, a place for BMX, and bathroom buildings (didn't go in any of them). The stars are amazing at night. Would like to come back if ever in the area to explore more of the park.

This is a fantastic state park. Everything is well maintained. Campsites are large. Lots of green space which they keep mowed short. Agave Ridge hiking trail is wonderful. Paved and mowed next to the pavement. One mile paved or option to take 4 miles on a mowed path. Clear water, lush vegetation, beautiful bluffs. Take the Scenic Byway and/or visit Castle Rock. Water level at lake has risen considerably since last year. Still a bit below conservation level but much better than it was.

We really enjoyed our stay, very clean facilities and a decent dump station. There is camping for all sorts (rv, tent, back in and pull through sites) water and electric in most sites some have FHU. There is nothing close by so make sure to come prepared. At the intersection of the entrance into the park there is a small convenience store with some basic essential primarily fishing equipment. There is a $5.00 per vehicle/day fee.
