Great little museum with very informative displays. It offers a look back at the early history, a timeline that is less available in many museums. The place is laid-back and easy to get through if you have only one-two hours. There's a good bit to read and so It's not always so appealing to a very young audience.
If you have a chance, on the main lobby floor in the walkway just at the back of the theater, there are three very impressive large scale paintings by the group of celebrated black artists known collectively as the Highwaymen. These are stunning originals that will easily convince anyone of the quality of these iconic artists.

Great little museum. We went during construction so the route was a little wonky but there were some very inventive displays. Free museum but welcomes donations and is deceptively packed with items throughout Florida history.
Well worth the visit for visitors of all ages. Pay close attention to the tourism display for some awesome memorabilia from tourist attractions of the Sunshine State's past.

Given that this place is free to visit AND park in the garage next door (with token from museum), I can’t complain. The kiddos (all under 7) enjoyed doing the scavenger hunt, but probably didn’t pick up much of the history. There are lots of random things to see in here. This is a great spot to go during the heat of the day to stay cool. Drinks, even WATER, is not allowed inside, so chug before you enter. We were forced to leave our bottles at the desk and pick them up on the way out.

Give yourself plenty of time to tour this excellent museum. The extensive history of Florida from prehistoric times up to the present is illustrated with many life size exhibits and artifacts. This is a fantastic museum for all ages and it’s free.

It's a wonderful museum. I loved learning more about the state I know call home. I loved the village displays and all of the wonderful hidden nooks. My favorite two are the riverboat and Granny's attic. I definitely encourage people to visit!

Our whole family had a wonderful time at this museum. There was so much much information and the exhibitions were top notch. The museum is large but not too large. It's probably more than what can be properly seen in a Day but you can see enough to truly enjoy the experience!

Great way to get a historical overview of Florida! …and it’s free! (donations gladly accepted), they will even validate your parking.
I went to see the state share of the 1715 treasures fleet, but there is so much more!
Saw some children doing a scavenger hunt so I think they have something for all ages.

So I am catching up on all my old haunts.

This one came up on my sons Civic school work and he lamented about missing the place.

He was like this place was "sick!" (Complimentary)

So? not sure if he was referencing Grandma's Attic, the ship, the coloring table or the many exhibits?

It's so much and it is rich in history.

I enjoyed it and my kids went 2-3x a week the summer before my oldest started Kindergarten.

There's a cafe and they provided free parking with a token if you get it at the guard's desk or gift shop.

As it's under needed repair, I don't know how it will be later but this place is educational and had some cool ways to engage kids.
