Love the art! Love the free Tuesday! Love the western exhibit! Went with my family for a free Tuesday and they really enjoyed the art and especially enjoyed the creative/creation station haha. It would’ve been nice to have someone with artistic knowledge monitoring that area though to refill/replace items that were out but also to give creative advice upon request to young minds that were stuck! My nana went with us and she struggled to find enough seating that was near a lot of art she liked, we might request a wheelchair for her next time we visit!

Was so impressed with Blanton Museum of Art. I only had an hour there and would recommend 2+ hours to see it all, if that’s important to you. The chapel is amazing. The staff recommended coming at 10 am to see the light coming through the windows to the floor. The art is two types of marble representing Jesus’ walk to the crucifixion as he carried the cross. Very modern and beautiful.
The museum itself had lots of art that was really deep. Have to point out the one from Cincy Ohio since I used to live near there. Thinking about suits in stores in the 50’s made me happy. Will be back! FYI for your time…..parking is in the parking garage to the right, gets congested at 5 pm. This is on UT campus so congestion there too. Worth a visit tho!

In the heart of Austin on the UTA campus is Blanton Museum of Art and what a cool building! The exhibits were amazing and the curation of the whole place was timeless. We spent a few hours there and I’m not sure I saw it all. They have free lockers for your bags and water bottles (can’t bring your own in) and they allow pictures but no flash photography. One installation features a sea of pennies with 600,000 coins!!! That’s not a typo!! Blew my mind. Plus all of the different countries and cultures’ historical and present day art was inspired.

Free on Tuesdays! It was a stop we had to make! My son needed a wheelchair and they were able to provide to help us go around on lengthy walks. Beautiful gallery and showcased Japanese art the time we were there. Restrooms and lockers were in the building. It’s across from the beautiful Capitol. Lots of kids activities too!!! Highly recommended!!!
