It’s an okay experience. There’s a lot to see and you can see it very quickly.
You don’t have a tour guide , they’ll explain all the buildings at the start then you’ll just have to navigate it on your own. Be sure to read the map they give up, it has valuable information as you try to navigate the grounds.
Parking was easy to find and we were the only visitors there.

I got the pass free from my library but I believe it costs about $10 to go inside.

After walking, I recommend siting by the beachside. The view is amazing.

This will take you at-least 30 minutes as not all the buildings are open, well on a Saturday. Be careful of your little ones going close to the boardwalk so they don’t fall into the water.

The place is also great if you’re trying to create content.

It was our first time visiting and we set up a homeschool field trip. The inside museum is very small but has a lot of interesting things to see. There are other buildings and things to see on the property as well. We also received an educational demonstration from one of the docents all about how he test the water and the weather and uses the instruments. Kids enjoyed it.

LIMM is an excellent place to have fun learning about local maritime history in a gorgeous setting. Situated on the Great South Bay, exhibits and activities for young and old alike. Spend the afternoon, you won’t regret it. Book a sail on Priscilla for an amazing experience as well.

A hidden gem of a museum and sailing experience. This museum presents a most significant yet oft overlooked piece of Long Island history. Exhibits educate without overwhelming...some reading, some viewing, some listening and even being able to physically interact with artifacts. Sailing on the oyster sloop Priscilla is icing on the cake. Being able to experience firsthand the life of mariners on a genuine 19th century sloop is one of the most effective and memorable ways to experience and appreciate history. If anyone ever says there's nothing fun or interesting to do on Long Island...send them here, and come yourself. You will not be disappointed!

Nice little museum right by downtown Sayville. Entry fee was reasonable and staff/volunteers were all very friendly. The museum has several buildings with active boat building for charity and displays. Stop by if you are in the area!

Great museum and grounds to see. It’s a ton of space outside to enjoy even when it’s cold. The US life saving exhibit is great and the small craft building has a ton of boats and information. Staff is amazing. Totally worth a visit.

Good place to come even though the buildings are closed for a little walk with the kids. You can walk up to the boats in the dock and peak into the windows of the ship building houses. If you’re looking for a quick thing to do with the kids to get out of the house during this whole mess you could do a lot worse! Hardly anyone else there!

The food trucks were basic. The funnel cake was great. There were some technical difficulties, but the pirates. The pirate were everything! Funny, charming and they worked hard to make my son comfortable enough for a photo. They are five star pirates!
