A good inexpensive museum to spend 2-3 hours with a lot of history to take in on James Madison and his prominent contemporaries. Also liked the variety with the adjacent area with old cars, wagons, farm equipment, and an old house.

Wonderful little museum. The guide and caretaker was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The exhibits are wide ranging covering Presidents from Virginia, history of Native American tribes of the area to artifacts from the area including an early colonial house and farm implements. The exhibits are extremely well described and cataloged. A wonderful and unexpected find.

I saw this museum listed when I checked out James Madison home in Orange Virginia. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well done this museum is. The woman volunteere at the front desk gave me a short tour through the rooms and explained each and pointed out what I considered the best objects. Almost all items are original. I loved the bed and chair of president Taylor. An original house from 1733 was moved into the museum.

Was driving by and saw this on the map. Decided to stop in to learn more about James Madison. I DEFINITELY was surprised with how much this museum has. Took over 300 photos. Also Carol was an excellent guide giving an overview of the museum and we had a long talk about history. Highly recommended going here if you are able to do so. We had an outstanding tour led by the very knowledgeable and friendly museum director. The museum boasts a large number of artifacts from the 18th and 19th century. There is a beautiful large charcoal-etched mural worth seeing.

We were on a presidential trip and this was easily the best stop. The Manager was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They also were the only facility in the area that offered a military discount. Bravo

A great experience for a homeschool field trip. Our 6 year old enjoyed this immensely and we plan to check back when new exhibits are announced.
