This park has multiple playgrounds and various types of equipment for all ages, but has no disability swings or anything else of the sort. There is a large splash pad with working water certain time of the year, and it is overall very well maintained and regulated by Aurora. There is also beautiful views and a softball/baseball area. Large picnic area and smaller picnic areas that are separate and allow for many parties.

A Delightful Gathering at Great Plains Park

Recently, my Christian brothers and sisters and I had the pleasure of hosting a barbecue and fellowship gathering at Great Plains Park, and it was an experience that truly encapsulated the spirit of community and joy. With approximately 80 attendees, spanning generations from the young to the more seasoned, the park proved to be an ideal backdrop for our celebration.

From the moment we arrived, it was evident that Great Plains Park is meticulously maintained, with sprawling green spaces that invite both relaxation and activity. The ample picnic areas, equipped with tables and grills, provided the perfect setting for our barbecue. We were delighted to discover that the facilities were well-suited to accommodate our large group, allowing for both communal dining and more intimate conversations.

The weather was simply glorious, which added to the overall ambiance of the day. As the sun shone brightly, we enjoyed a variety of delicious dishes, all lovingly prepared by our community members. Laughter and the aroma of grilled favorites filled the air, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that encouraged everyone to mingle and connect.

Throughout the day, it was heartening to witness the intergenerational bonds forming as older members shared their wisdom and stories, while the younger attendees brought their enthusiasm and energy. Games and activities scattered across the park, including frisbee and group sports, kept spirits high and laughter ringing through the air.

Great Plains Park is not just a place; it’s a canvas for creating cherished memories. Its expansive layout allows for both relaxation and recreation, making it an excellent choice for large gatherings. The combination of nature and community creates a nurturing environment that fosters genuine connections among attendees.

I wholeheartedly encourage other groups to consider Great Plains Park for their next gathering. Great plains have served our family for 2 generations.And we've had many birthday parties here. I do wish they took a little better care of the grounds.The stickers have kind of taken control. Buckley Air force landing strip Is right across the street so that's cool.

This park is awesome!! Schedule for the splash pad ensure kids take breaks for water and sunscreen. Plenty of parking and clean bathrooms

Good park. Splash pad is nice. It has fields, has two playgrounds one for younger kids and one for older. Unfortunately lots of people litter and smoke weed there so your kids are getting full exposure, and the grass is littered often. 5 stars for the park itself, 2 stars for the people at the park.

We had such a good time here. Our pool at our apartment is out of service so I Googled "splash pad" and found this little gem. It was busy. That's okay. Kids were playing together and having fun. Kids of all ages. The water does turn off for 15 minutes at a time. I was not able to gage how often it does that. It only happened once while we were there. That was about 2 hours or so. Then we switched to the playground. I also appreciate the inclusion of all areas.

A nice park with water park and playground. There's shelters, benches and trees all.around for shades. The only downside is, there is only 1 toilet building and (my friend said) it is not a flush toilet - I didn't go there myself. But, overall, it is a nice park for the kids.

Great Park! We love the splash park and that it is so close to two big parks. When the water turns off for brakes you can walk over and play on the playground. It is in a great place. Nice open area with nice people!
