The paths here are very high quality and don't disturb the beautiful nature. This place is just beautiful. We walked around the loch, which was the perfect length for us. There are a couple of sculptures. It's quite a popular place for dog walking. There are longer paths if you prefer. The large car park is not technically free but is so cheap it may as well be. No overnight parking. Take note there are no bins here so take your rubbish (and poo bags!) home.

Absolutely amazing place. We visited on a rainy day and it was still a treat. There are marked and unmarked paths, some very accessible others a bit more challenging. Great place for families, dog walkers but also if you want to spend some quiet time in nature.

Great place to walk especially with dogs, our 2 had a blast rummaging and sniffing.
Make a point of finding the map before setting out as there is a large area of paths to walk.

Arrived today with my wife and two dogs. One dog is 13 and has arthritis so we have a dog buggy for her.
There are different routes you can take, some easy and some hard.
We decided to go from the car park to the lake where there is a picnic table . Very pretty. We were going to go all the way around the lake but it was too rough for the dog pram.
We then backtracked but then took a left and ended up doing a loop and ended up back in the car park.
Very nice walk and easy underfoot if you take the right route.
There is a car park which you need to download the Ringo app and pay the parking fee.
A local told us to don’t bother paying as they never checked ( that’s what we did) or drive out the car park, turn right and right again and park on the road going into Dalbeattie which is totally free and what’s the locals do.

Really lovely place walk. We stayed in the area for a week and this became the morning dog walk rout. There are three routs, all of which quite easy- due to what I assume is bad weather, there are some paths that have trees to climb over- but we loved this!

Large, flat car park and helpful information boards around. The walks are quite well signposted through the forests too.

What a lovely woodland area for a walk, by yourself, with family and/or friends including dogs. The car park is chargeable via a web link and blue badge holders may park free.
There are free area guide leaflets available or you can explore yourself as there are signed directions to keep you right.
There is a kids adventure area and sculptures placed around in various areas, altogether a lovely woodland walk which is also pushchair, wheelchair and pram friendly

Such a beautiful place to walk. Take the dogs, the family or alone with a choice of 3 walks short to long if offers something for everyone. If you are wanting to see the loch then you will need to use the middle length route (yellow) this is the only route that gives nice views across the loch.
Rain or sunshine this forest is stunning. The paths are gravel so trainers can be an option if no other footwear is available.
There is a decent amount of parking with good rates however you will need to download the RingGo app to pay. Would recommend to pre download the app and register if not already registered however, 5G available around the site with vodaphone.

It's a lovely walk. Got beautiful nature view would definitely recommend. You got 3 choice of walk. Red the hard and long walk, the yellow is the medium type and white the easy one that you could go with prams. Hope this helps. Thanks
