Went here for the July 4th festivities. The museum was free for the holiday! I paid a contribution at the end in a box near the door. It did not take long to complete all 3 floors. 2-3 hrs max is the amount of viewing time needed.

A small art museum but a very special exhibit of 3 Wyeth artists' works was spectacular. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit. If you are interested in antique furniture from DE and PA craftsmen they have a decent collection too. Come the first weekend of the month and admission is free!

While sightseeing in Dover, we did a quick visit to Biggs because they were offering free summer admission. We were impressed with the breadth of their American art and furnishings collection. The period room wallpaper coverings alone are worth a visit. The colors and patterns are so vibrant. It's hard to believe that the designs are hundreds of years old. Their new painting acquisitions and their special exhibit of local contemporary artists' works are also highlights.

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, and I got some really interesting vibes in the antique rooms. If you’re sensitive to energy you can definitely feel the history. I went during pride month and am planning on going back soon!

Fun weekend to go on First Weekends! Main floor has local artists, second floor is the local furniture from the 1700s-1800s. There’s a Wyeth family exhibit through mid-February that I highly recommend!

The front staff was super friendly! The exterior is beautiful and the interior exhibits are well-organized and documented. The stairs were a bit odd, sometimes hard to find, sometimes appearing from no where. A few more maps might've helped as well, but I only noticed one. However, that wasn't much of a problem, as the exhibits wove through each other so seamlessly, it was like watching time progress. I appreciate how there were some exhibits where modern art was displayed with antiques, like in the Rococo room. It threw me off at first but it actually worked really well. Naturally, there were many paintings, but I also really liked how much furniture Biggs had from different eras. I would definitely like to visit again, and I recommend to anyone in or near Dover!
(Also, you apparently get free admission as a student, which is great!)

Free first Saturday of the month for my children and I. Also free art to do! Not much culture here in Dover, but this place is a smaller museum with local as well as national/international art that's fantastic. Just saw Frida exhibit that was fantastic. Staff is great here. Talked to Kristen about summer arts programs for children, and she was awesome......as was the rest of the staff

This place has three floors. The first floor was artwork from Winslow Homer, all top notch. The second floor is mostly historical artifacts, such as grandfather clocks, cabinets, chairs, and dishware. The third floor is mostly colored paintings with a few sculptures. For $10 it is a great bargain.
