The American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora is an incredible facility, crafted with tremendous intentionality, care, and concentration. The museum details the emotional story of Cuba and the resilient tale of its people. It catalogues both the nation’s triumphs and atrocities in a detailed and transparent way. I’d suggest that the content and anecdotes are for mature audiences.

The museum’s exhibit is curated as “chronological layout” which is designed to provide a linear and progressive narrative that helps visitors understand the development of themes, eras, or events over time. The interior of the museum is very thematic meaning that you can expect videos, visual aids, and textured walls/prop overhangs to immerse the visitor in the information being presented.

I’d highly recommend this museum to history buffs, folks of Latin/Caribbean descent, and south Florida residents!

Notes before your visit:
➡️ The parking on site is free but limited
➡️ The bottom floor museum is not complete yet, but there’s PLENTY of information to keep you occupied for well over an hour.
➡️ Expect to spend 1.5-2 hours visiting the museum
➡️ The upstairs art gallery is quaint but well curated. I think it might be proactive to start at the upstairs gallery as a preface to the navigable exhibits on the first floor.
➡️ Staff is fully bilingual and information is presented in both English & Spanish.

Hermoso edificio y con gran potencial pero el nombre no debería llevar la palabra diáspora. No hay nada sobre la diáspora cubana en Miami, Florida, EEUU o en el mundo. Nada en absoluto. Pensaba que encontraría un museo donde se presentara las características de los cubanos fuera de Cuba, y publicaciones centradas en la diáspora.
Se trata más bien de un museo de los horrores, con recreaciones de celdas, y de violencia política. No es apto para niños. Además de testimonios y libros, no hay objetos de nada. Hay fotos de Cuba y de las víctimas de la revolución. Un problema grave es que no tiene rigor histórico. Si todo era tan maravilloso, por qué triunfó la revolución? Se deberían explicar mejor los hechos y la mentalidad de la época.
Además, la mitad de las salas del museo estaban cerradas por mantenimiento, cosa que no me dijeron al comprar la entrada de 10 dólares. Estas cosas deberían avisar. Me sentí engañado.

친절한 리셉셔니스트, 건물의 디자인 모두 좋았으나 관람할 컨텐츠는 다소 부족한 편이다(현재 추가 중인 것 같다). 지금은 쿠바의 국민가수 Celia Cruz전이 진행되고 있다. Calle ocho의 어느 가게를 가더라도 벽, 간판, 하다못해 메뉴에서도 그녀의 얼굴을 볼 수 있으니 대체 이사람이 누군지 궁금하다면 방문해 봐도 좋겠다.
