One of the best museums I have been to. Love the African Art work that I saw today! Make sure that you stop by when in Houston.

It was great to learn about a new-to-me artist, El Franco Lee, II. Depending on when you visit, this may not be the exhibit.

The staff was friendly & helpful. The elevator was not working the day we visited, so the experience was limited to the first floor if you had mobility issues.

There is no entry fee, but they do ask for donations. There is also a small gift store.

I wish the museum got more funding to support more exhibits. Most of the art was wall mounted descriptions and printed material. It’s a small but unique place with excellent staff. Parking can be difficult on weekends so arrive early.

First time visiting. The front desk personnel was very nonchalant and not too friendly. We had questions about times and price. She kept repeating "sign in first"....um okay(insert eye roll)Anyway, after signing in, we found it's a small spot but very interesting. I love the photos on the staircase walls and the artist showcase. The artwork was so creative. Can't wait to see the new exhibits coming up.

I try to visit an African American Museum in all the cities and places I visit. Here we visited and encountered the works of Ellsworth Ausby and Afi Ese. The artworks are distinct and piercing. It was a pleasure to visit and see artworks from our culture. The building could use some renovations. Donate to the cause so we can continue to experience the arts of our time and culture.

My son and I were so impressed with how the art exhibits engaged my granddaughter. And, learning about the artist and their talents and contributions was a great experience. Very clean and well organized with a helpful and knowledgeable staff.

I visited on a weekday. No waiting period to enter. Great museum but should be named something different bc it mostly exhibits the paintings of one man. Check out room right beside front desk, it is filled with others artists, this was my favorite room. They ask for donations in any amount and to scan qr code go sign in. I was there for about 30 minutes.
