Children will definitely enjoy this place. The museum is entirely dedicated to railways and is designed like a railway station. There are various coaches on display, most of which are old and have their stories explained outside. Visitors can also enter many of these coaches. For those interested in learning more about trains and railways, this is a must-visit destination.

The entrance fee is 50 rupees, which includes two train rides, and both kids and adults are sure to love it. There is also a cafeteria located inside a coach that serves tea and snacks, offering a unique experience. Additionally, there is ample car parking available.

We recently visited the train museum, and it’s a decent place to spend a couple of hours, especially if you're with kids. The entry fee is quite reasonable at ₹50 per adult and ₹20 for kids, with children below 5 getting free entry (and you can pay ONLY IN CASH). A nice bonus is that the fee includes two rounds of a toy train ride, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed!

The museum itself showcases the rich history of Indian Railways, and you can explore old locomotives, carriages, and various railway equipment. It’s both educational and fun, making it a great spot for families. The Queen’s train was good.

However, there are a few things that could be improved. Food is not allowed inside the premises, except for water, which is fine, but the cafeteria that is available serves tea from a machine, and it was overly sweet, which was a bit of a letdown.

Additionally, the washrooms were not properly cleaned, which could be inconvenient for families with young children. It would be great if the management took more care in maintaining these facilities.

Overall, it’s a nice visit for train enthusiasts and families, but a few improvements could make the experience even better.

The Mysuru Railway Museum, established in 1979, is a unique outdoor exhibit showcasing India's railway heritage. It features vintage locomotives, some over 100 years old, and a gallery of historical photographs and paintings. The spacious grounds offer a pleasant, quiet atmosphere for exploration, typically taking less than an hour to visit. While it may not be highly interactive for young children, the museum provides an excellent opportunity for railway enthusiasts and photography buffs. Visitors appreciate the well-laid-out exhibits and the chance to get up close to historic trains. Despite some areas being a bit dusty, the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the evolution of Indian railways and Mysore's history, making it a worthwhile stop for those interested in this aspect of India's past.

If you are a train geek and love trains then this place is a candy shop for you. Every kind of train is displayed diesel engine to erstwhile engines, boilers and coal engines. With all trains in mint condition the interiors are intact as well.

They even have a turn table. Highly educational space with a toy train ride as well. We spent close to 2 hrs at this place and enjoyed every bit.

Very nice rail cafe inside which serves yummy cutlets.
It's ofcourse crowded during holidays but space is vast so doesn't spoil the fun.

A must-visit place for every train lover. The place is totally worth for the Rs.50 entry ticket. The locomotives and other rail-related items are attractively arranged and well-maintained. There is detailed description of every part. The old railway systems like signals, mechanical components, log books, etc. are kept very neatly. The complimentary toy train ride is funny. The rail cafe has some quick bites and drinks and there is also a shop that sells wooden train models, toys and other Karnataka products.
